In the world of music, there are often times when reality becomes an integral part of the creative process. For the Ukrainian singer Andrii Kravchenko, the war was such a catalyst. He shared his experiences in an interview, telling how his family, which ended up in the occupied Chernihiv region, became a source of inspiration for writing the first song.

The influence of the war on the work of Andrii Kravchenko

The war forced many people to reconsider their lives and priorities, and Andriy was no exception. The emotional experiences that overwhelmed him at the beginning of the full-scale invasion became the impetus for creating music that reflects the pain and resilience of the Ukrainian people.

"I started steadily writing music and lyrics with the beginning of a full-scale invasion. I was emotionally very worried about Ukraine, about the people... No one knew if we would call again. At that time, everyone was very worried about whether they would survive at all."

Andrii's parents became real heroes for neighbors and relatives. Their ability to remain calm in the most difficult situations deserves respect. During the occupation, they supported people and even found them jobs to prevent panic from taking over.

Personal stories that touch the heart

The story of how Andriy's 60-year-old mother tried to contact him to convey the first lines of the song "Children of War" is impressive with its strength and love. This moment became a symbol of the resilience and indomitable spirit of Ukrainians in the face of aggression.

"...a woman in her 60s climbed onto the roof to try to get in touch with her son... She dictated the first four or five lines to me..."

After the liberation of Chernihiv region, Andrii reunited with his family. According to him, the parents have aged noticeably, but their spirit has remained intact. Despite the ordeal, they remain a source of inspiration for their son and many others.
