Ball in the 4th season of "Emily in Paris": Lily Collins impresses with an unusual suit from Nina Ricci
In the fourth season of the popular Netflix series "Emily in Paris", viewers were waiting for the long-awaited fashion climax - a ball. Lily Collins, known for her role as Emily Cooper, appeared at a social event in a unique suit designed by the creative director of the French fashion house Nina Ricci, Harris Reid.
Harris Reid: From legends to the present
Reid drew inspiration from Truman Capote's legendary 1966 black-and-white ball in New York. Then all the guests had to arrive dressed in black and white and be sure to wear the masks that were thrown off at midnight.
Architectural forms and drama
Collins' costume is a striped jumpsuit/dress hybrid, cape and winged hat. Harris Reid noted that it was important to him to create something iconic and architectural, like the guests at Capote's ball.
"They both gave me the challenge to make a strong impression, to create something that felt like something iconic, " explains Reid.
Influence of Audrey Hepburn
Another source of inspiration was the image of Eliza Doolittle from the musical "My Fair Lady" performed by Audrey Hepburn. The designer added:
"I knew we needed to add drama with the hat."
Organicity and symbolism
Reed also emphasized the symbolic value of the suit. He related a lot to Emily, being a British-American in Paris with big dreams. Lily Collins, noting the costume, wrote on Instagram that this image became her favorite of the fourth season:
"Every detail was so thoughtful, inspired and perfect for Emily."
A look into the future
It remains only to wait for new fashionable incarnations in the series. The creators of the series managed to create something truly unique that will remain in the memory of the audience.
