Nasyrov Brothers: From Hip Hop to Cinema Stardom
In a world where music often acts as a gateway to broader horizons, the Nasyrov brothers, known for their hip hop group "Kurgan&Agregat, " have transitioned from the beats of their music to the silver screen. Antonio Lukich, a filmmaker with an eye for talent, saw something special in these artists and cast them in his comedy "Luxembourg, Luxembourg."
A Cinematic Debut at Venice
The film's storyline revolves around two brothers — Amil as Kolia, a daring minibus driver, and Ramil as Vasya, an honest cop. Their journey to Luxembourg, hoping for an inheritance from their ailing father, ends in unexpected disappointment. This narrative, both humorous and touching, was compelling enough to secure a spot at the Venice Film Festival.
"Our roots and language have always been a part of our identity, and it's incredible to showcase them on such a grand stage, " the Nasyrov brothers shared.
From Humble Beginnings to European Tours
Hailing from Kharkiv, the twins embraced their local dialect, using it as a unique element in their music and now in film. Their band "Kurgan&Agregat" started as a playful endeavor during their university days in Kharkiv, where Amil studied logistics and Ramil delved into the hotel and restaurant business. What began as a satire of rural life and "gangsta" rap quickly turned into a thriving career.
Their collaboration with renowned artist Dasha Astafieva on the track "Teacher" catapulted them to fame. Recently, their European tour not only entertained but also supported a noble cause, raising 14 million hryvnias for Ukrainian soldiers.
A Future Beyond Music and Film
The success of "Luxembourg, Luxembourg" at the Venice Film Festival is just a stepping stone for the Nasyrov brothers. Their journey from musicians to actors highlights their versatility and commitment to their art, and their philanthropic efforts showcase their dedication to their homeland.
