The British group Coldplay is again at the top of the musical Olympus. Their current tour, The Music of the Spheres, has become the highest-grossing in the history of rock music, reaching sky-high heights and surpassing even such titans of the scene as Elton John and U2.

New record from Coldplay

Since the start of the tour on March 18, 2022, Coldplay has managed to collect an incredible amount of 944.7 million dollars. The band's fans spared no expense, buying about 8.8 million tickets for 177 concerts in different parts of the world. It seems that crowds of fans are ready to follow their idols to the end.

"This tour changed our ideas about the possibilities of touring. We are extremely grateful to our fans for such support, " the band members noted.

Comparison with other titans of the music industry

No less impressive numbers are shown by Elton John's farewell tour, which brought him 939.1 million dollars for five years of touring (2018-2023). Accordingly, U2's "360" tour, which ran from 2009 to 2011, grossed $736.4 million.

The history of rock touring has had many exciting moments, but Coldplay managed to raise the bar even higher. Their previous tour A Head Full of Dreams (2016-2017) was already in the Top 10 most successful tours, which shows the stable interest in the band.

What's next?

The last concert of the The Music of the Spheres tour is scheduled for November 16, and there is every reason to believe that the record amount may increase even more. Coldplay continues to surprise their fans and is not going to stop there. What's next? Time will tell, but one thing is clear - this band will remain at the peak of popularity for a long time.
