Dakh Daughters Pay Tribute with Poignant New Release
Dakh Daughters, the avant-garde cabaret ensemble, has once again captured the essence of artistic resilience with their latest track "Povernennya". This new release is a homage to poet and activist Victoria Amelina, who tragically lost her life in a Russian missile strike in Kramatorsk in 2023.
A Musical Ode to Victoria Amelina
The band took to social media to announce the single, highlighting its importance:
"Povernennya" is a crucial composition for us, dedicated to the indomitable youth of Ukraine's New York (Donetsk region) and all temporarily displaced Ukrainians.
Incorporating Amelina's evocative poetry, the track serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of those affected by conflict.
"Pandora’s Box": An Album of Reflections
Set to release on April 25, 2025, "Povernennya" is part of Dakh Daughters' forthcoming album "Pandora’s Box". This album is poised to explore themes of resilience and hope, drawing from rich literary and folk traditions. Under the guidance of director Vlad Troitskyi, the group continues to blend classical and modern poetry with music and theater, creating a unique narrative tapestry.
The Legacy of Victoria Amelina
Amelina debuted in the literary world in 2014 and quickly garnered acclaim, with her works translated into multiple languages. Beyond her literary achievements, she was a fierce advocate for human rights. Her commitment led her to document war crimes in Ukraine, showing her dedication to truth and justice.
Victoria's words now find new life through Dakh Daughters, ensuring her legacy endures. This collaboration reminds us of the transformative power of art in times of strife.
