"Deadpool and Wolverine": the new Marvel blockbuster has collected $1 billion
"Deadpool and Wolverine", the latest blockbuster from Marvel, became a real sensation, collecting more than $1 billion at the global box office. This achievement makes it the 31st Disney film and the 11th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to achieve this feat.
Records and successes of Marvel
Last time, similar success was achieved by Pixar's cartoon "Inside Out 2", which collected $1.5 billion, becoming the second release of 2024 with such record figures.
Category R has not become an obstacle
Although "Deadpool and Wolverine" is rated R, which restricts viewing to persons under 17, this did not prevent it from becoming a commercial success. According to experts, the film may even surpass 2019's "Joker", which collected $1.07 billion, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film in history.
Marvel's fourth billion-dollar movie
Deadpool and Wolverine is only the fourth Marvel film to cross the $1 billion mark. It was previously accomplished by 2019's Avengers: Endgame with nearly $2.8 billion and 2021's Sony co-production Spider-Man: Homecoming with $1.9 billion.
"We are extremely proud of this achievement and grateful to our fans for their support, " said a representative of Marvel Studios.
What's next for Marvel?
The success of "Deadpool and Wolverine" confirms that Marvel continues to be a leader in the film industry, even in the face of fierce competition. What new projects await us in the future? It remains a mystery, but one thing is clear - Marvel is not stopping there.
