The action comedy "Deadpool and Wolverine" took the world by storm and broke US records in two weeks.
A new record at the global box office
The film "Deadpool and Wolverine" collected an incredible amount of 824 million dollars at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing film with an age rating of R in the United States of America. This success has already surpassed the box office of the previous installments of the franchise, which reached $783 and $786 million, respectively.
American Triumph: The New King of R-Rated Movies
The film collected $395 million at the American box office in two weeks, surpassing the previous record of "The Passion of the Christ" in 2004 ($370.7 million). This makes "Deadpool and Wolverine" the most successful "adult" film in the United States.
"This film not only brought back the favorite characters, but also proved that the audience adores complex, multifaceted plots with elements of comedy and action, " one of the film critics noted.
Global success and worldwide popularity
The film also achieved considerable success in the international market, collecting $428, 000 in Europe, Asia and Africa. China ($45.2 million), Great Britain ($42.4 million), Mexico ($32.8 million) and Australia ($24.6 million) were the top earners.
Deadpool Returns: Writer and Actor
Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, also co-wrote and co-produced the film. Hugh Jackman's return to the role of Wolverine, after announcing his exit from the project in 2017, came as a surprise to many fans.
Forecast for the future: a billion dollars is not far away
The film is already the second-highest-grossing of 2024 behind Inside Out 2 and the third-highest-grossing R-rated film in film history. The film community predicts that "Deadpool and Wolverine" will cross the $1 billion mark in the near future.
