Derrick Whibley, known as the frontman of the popular Canadian band Sum 41, recently shocked his fans with new details from his life. In his memoir, Walking Disaster, My Life Through Heaven and Hell, Whibley talks about the dark side of his early career that left an indelible mark on his life.

Confession about a difficult relationship

Whibley has been open about being physically and verbally abused by former manager Greig Norrie. At that time he was only 16 years old and he was already under pressure from the person who was supposed to support him in his music career. Instead, Nori became a "guide" to the world of alcohol and drugs.

The price of rejection

The famous producer and manager, Greig Nori, repeatedly tried to get intimacy from the young musician. However, when Whibley refused, he was called a homophobe, which only increased the moral pressure on the young rocker.

Support from Avril Lavigne

In the memoir, Derrick also mentions his ex-wife, Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. She became one of the first to call events by their names.

"This is abuse! He sexually abused you, " Lavigne said after learning of the harassment.

Astonishing frankness

Before writing the book, Derrick thought for a long time about whether it was worth bringing such personal moments of his life to public view. However, he decided that the truth is more important than fear and doubt. Rocker didn't file any lawsuits against Nori, deciding that the best way to let people know what was going on was to be honest.
