David Lynch: Life in an oxygen mask and the continuation of the creative path
Cinematic genius David Lynch, known for his mysterious and surreal films, faced great challenges off-screen. In a recent interview, the director frankly shared his struggle with a serious lung disease, emphysema, caused by years of smoking.
A disease that changed life
Illness caught up with Lynch in 2020 when he was diagnosed with emphysema. This was a real shock for him, because smoking was his constant companion from the age of eight. However, in just two years, after numerous attempts and failures, he finally gave up the bad habit.
Fight for every breath
"When you're always walking around with an oxygen mask, life changes its priorities, " Lynch says. Currently, his condition requires constant support, even for the smallest movements in space, but this does not stop the director's creative impulse.
"I can barely walk across the room. It's like walking around with a plastic bag over your head, " Lynch admits.
Creativity without limits
Despite all the obstacles, Lynch continues to impress with his resilience and love for art. He is actively working on new projects and is considering the possibility of remote directing, which allows him to stay in the world of cinema even from a distance.
A look into the future
Lynch does not lose optimism. His story is a reminder of the strength of the human spirit, the ability to fight even in the most difficult conditions. Each of us has the opportunity to change our life for the better, regardless of the circumstances.
