Dolce & Gabbana took an unexpected step in the world of fashion by releasing a perfume for dogs. The inspiration for this step was Domenico Dolce's unconditional love for his beloved dog Fefe.

Exclusive fragrance for four-legged friends

The new perfume, called Fefé, costs €99 and includes notes of ylang-ylang, musk and sandalwood. For this price, the buyer receives a glass bottle with a 24-carat gold-plated handle and an exclusive Dolce & Gabbana necklace with a tag.

Animal rights activists sound the alarm

However, not everyone shares the fashion house's enthusiasm.

"Perfume can have a negative effect on dogs' sense of smell, the smell can be unpleasant for them and impair their connection with the environment, " warns the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals from Cruelty (RSPCA).

Historical context

Despite the criticism, it is worth noting that scents for dogs are not an innovation. In 2007, the London department store Harrods launched a perfume for dogs called Sexy Beast, and in 2022 Queen Elizabeth II herself introduced Happy Hounds cologne.

The future of the pet market

The global pet products and services industry is expected to grow from $320 billion to $500 billion by 2030. Such forecasts demonstrate that the demand for luxury products for animals will only grow.

Final thoughts

Time will tell whether Fefé perfume will become a new trend in the world of fashion for pets, or will remain just an expensive trinket. However, this move by Dolce & Gabbana is undoubtedly attracting attention and causing discussion.
