In a delightful twist of fate, two notable figures from Ukraine's cultural and political scene, Olena Zelenska and Anatoliy Anatolich, recently rekindled their friendship at a significant event in Odesa. Their connection, rooted in a shared educational journey in Kryvyi Rih, has always been marked by humor and mutual respect.

A School Connection That Sparked Friendship

Their story began in the halls of a Kryvyi Rih school, though it wasn't until their university days that they truly connected. Olena Zelenska, now the First Lady of Ukraine, and Anatoliy Anatolich, a renowned television host, found common ground in their love for wit and humor.

"She had a fantastic sense of humor, " Anatolich reminisces. "Olena could craft jokes effortlessly, a rare talent among women at the time."

The Unexpected Invitation

When Zelenska assumed the role of First Lady, Anatolich faced a unique challenge. He wished to invite her to his birthday celebration but was unsure of the protocol. Despite the uncertainty, he extended the invitation, fully expecting her to decline.

"I understand you probably won't come, " he messaged her. To his surprise, Zelenska replied, "It's a pity, I would have come."

A Long-Awaited Reunion

Due to the challenges posed by geopolitical events, their paths had not crossed in nearly three years until recently. The opening of a shelter in Odesa provided the setting for their long-overdue meeting.

The Humor That Binds

Zelenska's role in "Kvartal 95, " a popular Ukrainian comedy show, was not just as the spouse of the main figure but as a talented writer. Her ability to write humor was an inspiration during a time when few women ventured into the comedic arena.

"She wasn’t just the wife of the main person in 'Kvartal 95'—she was an author herself, " Anatolich proudly states.

This reunion has shed light on the enduring bond between Zelenska and Anatolich and highlights the power of humor and friendship, even amidst challenging times.
