Ed Sheeran admits: It's been almost 10 years since he gave up his phone

Four-time Grammy Award winner and titular British singer Ed Sheeran has not used a mobile phone since 2015. He revealed this secret while recording the Therapuss podcast with host Jake Shane.

"I haven't had a number since 2015. I was recently given a phone to film myself going to a Boston Celtics game, but I haven't used it, " Ed said.

Email as a phone replacement

Instead of a cell phone, Sheeran uses e-mail to keep in touch with friends and colleagues. He says he checks the mail once a week, setting aside an hour a day, usually during car trips.

"Once I was having dinner with my father, and my phone was bursting with messages, I had to take it out, get distracted. In general, because of this, I began to lose live communication. And that's why I left only my iPad and e-mail...", the singer explains.

Reason for giving up a mobile phone

Sheeran noted that he had the same phone number since he was 15. When he became famous, the number of contacts reached about 10 thousand, and it became a real test. The singer claims that at first he tried to answer everyone, but quickly realized that it was impossible. So he decided to radically change his way of communication.

Reflections and consequences of the decision

This change allowed Ed to focus more on live conversations and personal relationships. Giving up the phone helped him maintain inner peace and avoid being overwhelmed by constant messages.

A look into the future

I wonder if Sheeran's example will become an inspiration for other celebrities and if we will see a new trend - the rejection of mobile phones in the modern world. Time will tell, but one thing is clear - Ed Sheeran was able to find his own unique way to balance his personal and professional life.
