Eminem decided to 'kill' Slim Shady in the new album
Eminem is back in the spotlight, this time with a bold new project that will no doubt surprise his fans. He decided to 'kill' his alter ego Slim Shady in a new album called "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)".
New single
The first single from this album, "Houdini", is already out and has gained a lot of attention. It partially echoes the Steve Miller Band's 1982 hit, "Abracadabra." In the lyrics, Eminem is critical of several famous people, including Megan Thee Stallion, as well as himself.
Open questions
"If I asked Megan Thee Stallion to record a track with me, would I really have a chance at this fit?"
This line is no doubt an allusion to the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion leg shooting incident for which Tory Lanes was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Music video
Eminem also released a music video for the song, featuring some of his famous friends. The video begins with a voice message from his music manager, Paul Rosenberg, that appears to be a negative review of the new album. The next scene shows his mentor and colleague Dr. dre who says:
"We have a problem."
Time travel
The problem is a portal that allows time travel between the present and 2002. 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Pete Davidson appear in the video. Eminem even fights his younger self, which reminds fans of his 2002 music video for "Without Me."
Fake obituary
The Detroit Free Press recently published a fake obituary for his alter ego Slim Shady, calling him "an unruly part of a thriving underground rap scene."
Eminem continues to amaze his fans with unexpected moves and courage. Is this really the end for Slim Shady? Time will show.
