Gennadiy Popenko: "Oblivion is the best punishment for evasive artists"
Ukrainian TV presenter and actor Gennady Popenko expressed his opinion about famous artists who left the country with the beginning of the Russian invasion and are silent about the war. Popenko, who stood up for Ukraine from the beginning of the invasion, emphasized that oblivion is the best punishment for such figures.
Oblivion as punishment
"I don't think about them. And I wish the same for our society. An artist is afloat, as long as he is talked about, remembered. If this does not happen, then the artist will not exist either, " he said.
War is the business of every Ukrainian
The TV presenter also emphasized the importance of every citizen realizing his responsibility for the fate of the country.
"I don't accept people who can claim that the current war is none of their business. The institution of citizenship must work. The passport must be important. Protect your country, not yours - go to yours, " Popenko said.
Those who remain deserve respect
The TV presenter also shared his vision of how difficult it is to send relatives off to war, but emphasized that it is a necessity.
"But it will be more difficult when the entire family and home will be destroyed by the occupiers. And the units that will be left alive will in a few years go to parades on the occasion of the holiday of the friendly destruction of fraternal Ukraine, " he added.
Conclusions and consequences
Popenko believes that the public's forgetting and ignoring those who escaped will be the worst punishment for them. His views are echoed by many Ukrainians, who believe that during the war every citizen should contribute to the defense of the homeland.
