The upcoming blockbuster "Deadpool and Wolverine" has already set a new record in pre-sale tickets, according to AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.'s CEO Adam Aron.

Record-Breaking Pre-Sale Figures

"Approximately 200, 000 moviegoers have already purchased tickets at AMC. This surpasses the first-day ticket sales for any other R-rated film in AMC's history, " Aron announced on social media platform X.

Summer Blockbusters to Boost Box Office

The highly anticipated film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is scheduled to premiere on July 25. This summer promises a slew of notable releases, including the fourth installment of "Despicable Me" and the sequel to "Twister." These releases are expected to invigorate the box office, which faced challenges earlier this year due to a Hollywood strike.

Financial Outlook for AMC

Despite a rocky start to the year, Aron remains optimistic about the future. The CEO expects second-quarter earnings to surpass those of the first quarter, though they will still fall short of last year's figures. "The summer box office will be stronger, healthier, and growing, " Aron stated, attributing this to the release of major films like "Deadpool and Wolverine."

AMC's Market Position

AMC Entertainment, the world's largest cinema chain, operates over 10, 000 screens across 900 locations globally. However, the company's stock has dipped by 2.6% during Wednesday's trading, and its market value has decreased by 26% since the start of the year, now standing at $1.37 billion. In contrast, the S&P 500 index has risen by 11.5% over the same period.

While the financial challenges are evident, the promising lineup of films in 2024, 2025, and the first half of 2026 gives hope for a robust recovery in the coming years.
