Kyiv premiere of "Insane": a story reminiscent of the past
Kyiv premiere: a thought-provoking film
A pre-premiere screening of the film "Insane", which tells about the horrors of punitive psychiatry in Soviet times, took place in Kyiv. This is not just a movie, but a mirror of history, which makes the modern viewer think about the price of freedom and human rights.
"This is not only our story - it is a living and painful reality, from which we must all draw conclusions, " emphasizes Artem Kolyubaev, the film's producer.
Immersion in reality: a challenge for the director
Director Denys Tarasov, for whom "Crazy" became his debut feature film, admits that filming was a personal challenge. The abandoned psychiatric hospital, where the key scenes were filmed, became a real test of strength.
"The atmosphere of the psychiatric hospital added extreme realism. It's not just setting up the frame, it's a real immersion in the subject, " Tarasov shares.
A story told through the game
Actor Ostap Stupka, who embodied the chief psychiatrist, emphasizes the complexity of his role: "My character is the personification of the system, he is both its product and tool." This made him want to delve into the psychology of a person who once, maybe she was kind.
Recognition in the international arena
"Insane" has already gained recognition at international film festivals, in particular at the Montreal International Film Festival, where the film received awards for "Best Director" and "Best Actor". This success emphasizes the relevance and importance of the topic raised by the film.
