Can cinema change the world for the better? This is exactly the question posed by Roman Bondarchuk's new film "Redaktsia", which will be released in national theaters on November 28. This tape has already managed to charm the audience at international film festivals, including Berlin and Sarajevo, where it received a standing ovation.

Yura, a scientist in the world of lies

The main character of the film, Yura, works in the natural history museum of a small town in the Kherson region. One day he witnesses a forest being set on fire, which shocks him to the core. Driven to uncover the truth, he joins a local newspaper, only to encounter fake news and corruption schemes.

"The film is not only about corruption and manipulation, but also about hope for change, " says director Roman Bondarchuk.

Political context and moral challenge

The action of the film unfolds against the background of a fierce struggle for the mayoral seat, where the main candidate, surrounded by promises and support, is in a coma. This political absurdity only emphasizes the absurdity of the situation in which Yura found himself, trying to preserve his morality.

Co-production and international success

Created in co-production with Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Redaktsia shows how a common truth can unite nations. This is Bondarchuk's second full-length work after his film "Volcano", for which the director received the Shevchenko Prize in 2019.

What's next?

The enthusiasm for the film on international platforms emphasizes its relevance and significance. "Editorial" not only exposes the problems of our time, but also sends a strong message of hope that after victory, Ukraine will be able to overcome all difficulties and recover.
