Ladge Lee is preparing an epic blockbuster about Dumas' "Black Devil".
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the little-known pages of history that will come to life on the big screen? Lage Lee, the famous Afro-French director, whose talent has already impressed the world with his film "Les Miserables", aims for a new ambitious project - "Dumas: The Black Devil". This historical blockbuster will tell about the extraordinary fate of Thomas Alexandre Dumas, known as the first black general in the French army.
Thomas Alexander: from slave to general
The story of Thomas Alexandre Dumas definitely deserves a screenplay. Born into slavery in 1762 as the son of a nobleman and an African slave woman, he rose through the ranks to become one of the most decorated military men of his time. His skill and courage in battle earned him the nickname "Black Devil", but unfortunately his contribution to the French Revolution was underestimated even by Napoleon himself.
"I was immediately captivated by the story of Dumas, the first black general in the French army. I look forward to bringing this story to the big screen, as it opens an important but forgotten chapter in our history, " said Ladge Lee.
An epic film combining history and action
The project promises to be one of the largest in French cinema, although the budget remains a secret. Renowned producer Dimitri Rassam also expressed his admiration, noting that Laj Lee is the perfect director for such a complex and historically significant film.
"While studying the work of Alexandre Dumas, I accidentally came across the story of his father, General Dumas. I was impressed by his extraordinary life journey and I was surprised that he did not become more famous, " commented producer Dimitri Rassam.
Filming we are waiting for
The shooting of the film is scheduled for 2025, and it is expected that both well-known French and international actors will take part in the film. Laj Lee plans to show not only the events of the revolutionary period, but also to delve deeply into the human dramas and conflicts behind the heroic deeds of General Dumas.
