Megogo Music Awards 2023: Surprising Wins and Unforgettable Moments
The third annual Megogo Music Awards in Kyiv brought not only dazzling performances and emotional speeches, but also a unique twist—fans could support their favorite artists by donating to their "envelope, " raising 140, 496 UAH for charity.
Chuprynenko's Powerful Performance
Chuprynenko took home the Special Award in the "Music of a Free Country" category, thanks to her poignant song "Step". Her emotional reaction was palpable as she expressed her gratitude, stating, "I'm in shock." Her plans remain clear: to continue supporting Ukraine's efforts and to create music that resonates with those who need it most.
"We live together in Ukraine, and it's important to survive and support Ukrainian forces in their fight against Russian aggression, " shared Chuprynenko.
Yarima's Ambitious Vision
Yarima was another highlight, clinching the award for "New Wave of Alternative/Indie Music." The recognition brings her closer to her dream collaboration with the renowned Jamala. Though not yet confirmed, Yarima consistently voices her desire to work with Jamala, manifesting her dreams at every opportunity.
"Finally, I can breathe easier because I've received my first award, " Yarima said, emphasizing the importance of such events in recognizing dedicated artists.
Kazhana's Triumphant Comeback
Having been nominated previously without a win, Kazhana finally secured a victory in the "Empowering Women’s Voices" category. Reflecting on her journey, she highlighted the supportive atmosphere of the awards, stating, "A year ago, I performed at MEGOGO for the first time, and it was amazing."
