Mykola Hnatiuk celebrates his 71st birthday: the legend of Ukrainian pop music returns
Mykola Hnatyuk, a legendary Ukrainian singer who has been famous for his talent since the 90s, turns 71 today. Born on September 14, 1952, he became an honored artist of Ukraine and gathered stadiums of fans.
Recognition in the international arena
Mykola Hnatiuk gained his popularity by winning gold at the Ukrainian competition of pop artists at the age of 26. Later, he took third place at the All-Union competition, which opened the way for him to the international stage. His victory at "Interbachen" in Sopot became a real sensation, despite the attempt of the Russian star Alla Pugacheva to prevent his success.
"He was always a wise man, " recalls his brother Anatoliy.
Return to Germany
A year ago Mykola Hnatiuk lived in Ukraine, but probably at the end of 2023 he moved to Germany, where his only son lives. According to his brother, Hnatiuk was always a leader in their family and a wise person.
A new name on the music scene
After a long period of creative pause, Mykola Hnatiuk decided to return to show business under a new name - "Anastasia". The famous Ukrainian actor Serhii Kalantay called him a man of the era and a favorite of the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma.
"He is very human, sociable, likes to tell jokes - he does it skillfully, " Kalantay shared.
Religious aspect of career
Passion for religion became an important part of Mykola Hnatyuk's life. He studied at a theological seminary and created several albums with a religious tone. However, this did not prevent him from returning to the stage.
"The entire former Union admired him, " adds Kalantay.
