Cultural Mission: From Territorial Defense to Music Stages

The life of Myroslav Kuvaldin, a Ukrainian musician of Nigerian descent, took a dramatic turn at the onset of the full-scale invasion. As the world changed, so did his role. Initially enlisting in the Rakhiv Territorial Defense, Myroslav was soon approached by Kolya Serha, who saw a different battlefield for Kuvaldin — one of culture and music.

From Soldier to Cultural Ambassador

Family Away, Heart at Home

While Myroslav tours with his music, his heart remains with his family, who are safely abroad. His wife and sons, Korniy and Bulat, are pursuing their education outside Ukraine. The distance raises questions about the future — will his sons choose to return and serve their motherland? Myroslav shares his mixed feelings, hoping for their return but understanding their distance.

"Even if they were here, we wouldn't see much of each other, " he admits, grappling with the personal sacrifices of his mission.

A New Rhythm in Life

Once dreaming of four concerts a month, Kuvaldin now finds himself performing up to 48 times in 30 days. This unexpected workload taught him a lesson about dreams and reality. The relentless pace of performances underscores the power of music as a tool for resilience and resistance. It's a new chapter in his life, blending his passion for music with a profound sense of duty.
