MONATIK Presents New Video Directed by Renowned Tanya Muinyo
The Ukrainian singer MONATIK has unveiled a striking new music video for his latest song "A shcho?", directed by the globally acclaimed Ukrainian director Tanya Muinyo. Known for her innovative visual storytelling, Muinyo has collaborated with MONATIK on over 20 projects, infusing each with her unique artistic vision.
MONATIK Faces the Jury in New Video
In the new video, MONATIK stands trial before a jury, symbolizing the artist's struggle to create from the heart amidst societal judgment. The video opens with a scene where the audience initially applauds him, only to later condemn him. This powerful imagery is brought to life through Muinyo's ethereal filming style, aiming to capture the essence of Odessa, a city dear to MONATIK and referenced in the song.
A Glimpse into the Upcoming Musical "Rhythm"
The new video is not just a standalone piece; it is part of a larger narrative. According to MONATIK's press service, this video is a glimpse into the forthcoming musical "Rhythm". In his social media, MONATIK urged fans to view this work as an adaptation of one of the musical numbers.
"Attention! Please treat this work as the screen adaptation of one of the numbers from the upcoming musical, " the singer appealed to his followers.
A Story of Love and Defiance
In the video, the public attempts to separate MONATIK from the main heroine, but his unwavering belief and emotions ultimately reunite them. The defiant lyrics "A shcho? Yakshcho nam tak khochetsya?" ("So what? If we want it so much?") reflect his resistance against societal condemnation.
A Long-standing Creative Partnership
Working with Muinyo, MONATIK has produced numerous iconic videos, including the famous clip for "Kruzhyt", also filmed in Odessa. Their collaboration has continued despite the challenges posed by the full-scale invasion. As MONATIK's PR manager Kristina Shomina shared, the cost of these masterpieces is secondary to their artistic value.
"Overall, [shooting a video] is priceless. This is our more than 20th collaboration. Before the full-scale invasion, the rates and scales were different. Now Tanya, like all of us, lives under different conditions. When it was hard on the soul, Dima and Tanya even shot videos on VHS, walking around Odessa. So the price is never an issue, " Shomina explained.
With this new video, MONATIK and Muinyo continue to push creative boundaries, promising more captivating stories in the upcoming musical.
