The national selection for "Junior Eurovision 2024" with simplified rules has started
The national selection for "Junior Eurovision 2024" started with sensational changes. Public Culture has announced new simplified rules that will allow children from 9 to 14 years old to participate without having to have an author's song.
New rules for more participation
Now, to participate, it is enough to record two covers of well-known songs and present a video with your performance. This revolutionary solution enables more children to show their talent and creates a level playing field for all.
"The music producer of the selection, Svitlana Tarabarova, is sure that such an innovation will stimulate the creative development of children and discover new talents."
Key stages of selection
Applications are accepted from June 5 to July 3, after which a longlist of 15 participants will be formed who will advance to the next stage - the "star school". The final will be held in September in an online format, where the jury and the audience will choose representatives of Ukraine.
Historical context and perspectives
Last year, Ukraine was represented by Anastasia Dymid with the song "Flower", which brought the best result since 2018 - 5th place. This year's selection promises to be even more exciting, as 2023 runners-up Spain have accepted the challenge and will host the competition in Madrid.
What to expect from the upcoming competition
Whether or not children submit an additional original song will not affect their ability to advance to the next stage. It is important that the new rules will allow even more talented children to show themselves.
