This year, film critics have been extremely cruel to some films, and the Metacritic rating clearly demonstrates which films turned out to be the biggest disappointments of the year. Among them were horror films, a cartoon and an expensive film that did not live up to expectations.

"Imaginary Friend": Is it really horror?

Rated 34 on Metacritic, this film is about a woman who moves into her childhood home with her young stepdaughter. A girl finds an old stuffed bear, which becomes her imaginary friend. However, as it turns out, the bear is not as simple as it seems at first glance.

"According to the critics, the tape was too fresh and did not cause the necessary tension, " experts noted.

"Garfield in the movies": The cat that disappointed

The film about the legendary red cat Garfield with a rating of 31 did not captivate the audience either. After an unexpected meeting with his long-lost father, Garfield and his friend Odie are forced to leave their carefree lives behind and embark on a wild journey.

"Many critics note that the film is not exciting, and its plot is complicated and impractical, " reviewers say.

"Baseynar": High budget, zero effect

With a rating of 29, this movie starring Chris Pine was also anti-rated. Pine plays a Los Angeles resident who uncovers a shady business deal while cleaning pools and wants to take down a corrupt politician and a greedy landlord.

"The film missed the mark, and it is one of the worst films in the film industry, " critics say.

"Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2": Failed horror

With a rating of 28, the second part of "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" left the audience in shock, but not in fear. Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Owl and Tigger go hunting, leaving behind a trail of blood. However, most experts have criticized its plot and consider it ugly rather than scary.

"Madame Web": Bad move by Sony

The 26-rated film set in Sony's Spider-Man universe also failed to live up to expectations. A paramedic from New York gets supernatural powers and fights a supervillain with other people with superpowers.

"The movie is incredibly bad and tries too hard to fit into Sony's version of the MCU, " say film critics.

The year 2023 showed that not all high-profile projects turn out to be successful. However, it is precisely such disappointments that remind us that filmmaking remains unpredictable and diverse.
