Sanin's narrative is interwoven with personal preparation and loss. As the tension of impending conflict loomed, Sanin readied himself and his family for the unknown. “I didn’t sleep at all on the night of February 24, ” he recalls, vividly recounting the surreal experience of boarding a nearly empty train to Kyiv amidst the chaos.

"We were haunted by the scent of something dreadful about to tear apart, a phantom of destruction, " says Sanin, reflecting on his intuitive foresight.

Despite the turmoil, Sanin continued to engage in the creative process, presenting "Dovbush" to military audiences across the country. With a projector and a laptop in tow, he visited hospitals and military units, sharing snippets of his work. This intimate engagement with viewers offered Sanin a fresh perspective on his audience.

"I’ve finally begun to understand and feel the audience, " Sanin shares, noting the direct and unfiltered feedback from military personnel who attended his screenings.

Sanin’s life and career reflect the steadfast belief that no one will defend our land but ourselves—a theme resonant in "Dovbush". His dedication extends beyond filmmaking; he actively supports the Ukrainian military, collaborating with actors like Oleksiy Gnatkovskyi to raise funds for essential supplies.
