Pavlo Dvorsky talked about meeting Sofya Rotaru and her sister's wedding
The People's Artist of Ukraine, the famous singer and composer Pavlo Dvorsky frankly spoke about his many years of acquaintance with the legend of Ukrainian pop music Sofya Rotaru. In his interview, the musician shared memories that span almost sixty years of mutual friendship.
Friendship and wedding of Aurika Rotaru
Pavlo Dvorsky recalled that together with his wife Svitlana he was present at the wedding of Sofia Rotaru's sister - Aurika. They became friends at this important event that took place in Chernivtsi.
"Svitlana and I were witnesses at Aurika's wedding with her first husband, " says Dvorskyi. "The ceremony took place in Chernivtsi, Sofia came. She took great care of her family all her life - you can't take that away from her. She helped her parents, sisters, brothers - everyone a lot materially and morally. She is well done. My Svitlana visited Rotaru's parents in Marshintsi."
History of acquaintance and cooperation with Rotaru
Pavlo Dvorskyi said that their acquaintance with Sofia Rotaru began in 1966 at a district amateur art competition. Even then he noticed her talent and potential. Later, their paths crossed several times, and Pavlo had the opportunity to observe the development of her career.
"We met Sofya in 1966 at a district amateur art contest, " recalls Pavlo Dvorskyi. "I was performing for the Kelmenetski district, and Sofia - for the Novoselytskyi district of the Chernivtsi region. Even then I saw and heard what wonderful creative talents she had. And then she started singing in "Chervania Ruta" in Chernivtsi. I was well acquainted with her late husband Anatoly Yevdokymenko."
Dvorskyi's career offers and choices
Dvorskyi also talked about the interesting offers he received during his career. The famous musician planned to join the Crimean Philharmonic at the suggestion of Rotaru's husband, Anatoly Yevdokymenko, but refused. He also had the opportunity to collaborate with the "Songs" ensemble, but remained in his native "Smerichka".
"I was well acquainted with her late husband Anatoly Yevdokymenko. He wanted me to move with them later to the Crimean Philharmonic. I thanked him, but refused. I also had an offer from the leader of the "Songs" Volodymyr Mylyavin to move to Minsk. He also thanked me, but stayed in "Smerichka" with Nazarii Yaremchuk".
