The transition of Eurovision 2025 to Basel: what to expect from the cultural capital of Switzerland?
Eurovision 2025 promises to be even more exciting, because the contest will take place in the magical city of Basel. After long consultations, the organizing committee of the song contest and the Swiss authorities agreed to hold the event here, and this decision caused a lot of discussion and excitement among Eurofans.
They chose between two main candidates
Basel competed with Geneva for the right to be the host city, and although Geneva offered the largest budget of 30 million francs, the city on the Rhine won. Netta, the winner of Eurovision 2018, believed that the contest should be held in Geneva, but the joking predictions on the network were confirmed - Basel will host guests from all over the world.
Cultural capital and an important economic hub
Basel, known for its rich cultural heritage and economic potential, will offer its guests numerous museums and other cultural centers. Its narrow streets on the banks of the Rhine can accommodate more people than it might seem at first glance. This city harmoniously combines ancient architecture with modern infrastructure, creating an ideal atmosphere for holding such a large-scale event.
Event dates and format
The competition will be held on May 13, 15 and 17, 2025. Semi-finals will be held on the first dates, and the grand final will be held on May 17. Basel is already preparing to welcome guests - the city promises an unparalleled atmosphere, full of bright impressions and irrepressible emotions.
Star performances and expectations
Only recently, the Ukrainian singer Jerry Heil and the winner of Eurovision 2024 Nemo performed at the Swiss music festival Luzern Live, performing the joint composition "Virgin Maria". This only confirms the high standards of music content that fans of the competition can expect in 2025.
Eurovision 2025 in Basel promises to be a grand event that will unite music, culture and incredible emotions in the heart of Europe. We are waiting for new musical discoveries and unforgettable moments that will remain in the history of this wonderful competition.
