Perspectives of "The Crown": Is a prequel to the hit series being prepared?
Fans of Netflix's The Crown who were saddened by the show's ending following the tragic death of Princess Diana may have a new reason to rejoice. Peter Morgan, the creator of the series, hinted at the possibility of another season. However, this will not be a continuation of the coming-of-age story of Princes William and Harry and their wives.
Hints about future plans
In an interview, the screenwriter noted that he does not rule out the possibility of creating a prequel series to "The Crown". He remarked:
"Maybe later, at some point in my life, I'll miss it enough to pick up the pen again"
According to Morgan, he tries to avoid describing events that happened less than 10 years ago, and in the case of the royal family, that limit is 20 years. That is why the series ended in 2004, two years after the 50th anniversary of the Queen's reign.
The idea of a prequel: a new twist in the story
Morgan shared his thoughts on being able to transport viewers to a bygone era by immersing himself in the events that preceded the storyline of the original series. This will offer viewers a fresh look at the path of the royal family and reveal new aspects of its history.
Why Morgan needs time
You should not wait for a new project in the near future. The screenwriter emphasized that before starting a new project, he needs to fulfill other creative commitments. In addition, the real death of Queen Elizabeth II greatly influenced his desire to return to this topic.
"I wanted to make sure that basically there was a whole generation between where we are now and where the show ends... so it's still a show that's historical even though it ends in the 21st century"
It remains to be hoped that all circumstances will be in favor of creating a prequel, and we will be able to plunge again into the dramatic world of the British royal family.
