"Penguin" breaks the cream: Sensational start of the new series on HBO Max
The new spinoff of the "Batman" series, dedicated to the legendary villain Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, collected 5.3 million views in the United States in the first four days after the premiere. This is an impressive number, which exceeded the results of the final season of "Heirs" (4.9 million) and the second part of "White Lotus" (4.1 million). However, the achievement of "Penguin" has not yet surpassed "True Detective: Night Country", which gathered 5.7 million viewers.
Why did "Penguin" attract so much attention?
Since his first appearance in DC Comics in 1941, the Penguin has always been one of Batman's most interesting foes. This character ranks among the best villains in the DC universe, and his popularity has only grown over the years. The history of the series
Ordered in March 2022 by HBO Max, Penguin began filming in March 2023 in New York and was completed in February 2024. It consists of eight episodes, each of which reveals the dark side of the famous villain.
