If you thought that Ridley Scott would stop at two parts of "Gladiator", you are in for a surprise. The director is already working on the third part, which, according to him, was inspired by the legendary trilogy "The Godfather". Despite the mixed reviews of "Gladiator 2", Scott does not lose enthusiasm and even has 14 pages of the script for the new film.

A new look at an old story

In an interview, Ridley Scott admitted that he borrowed the ideas for the third "Gladiator" from Coppola's trilogy. "I thought about it over the weekend and decided to borrow this idea from Francis, " the director said, emphasizing that he wanted to convey a sense of irony and tragedy similar to those we see in The Godfather.

"At the end of The Godfather, Michael Corleone no longer wants to do business. I like the idea of a hero who gets a role he can't turn down. It's really exciting, " Scott said.

Will Lucius become the new Corleone?

In the second part, we see Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, living a peaceful life in a Roman colony. However, circumstances force him to return to the Colosseum, where he remembers his imperial roots. It reminds us of Michael Corleone, who tried to give up his criminal empire, but the past wouldn't let him go.

The third "Gladiator": what awaits fans

Scott promises that the third film will be full of unexpected plot twists and "historical fiction". The director did not give a specific answer to the question about the date of the start of production or the premiere, but, taking into account his words, the three-quel can become the next big project.
