Grigoriy Chapkis, a name synonymous with dance in Ukraine, left an indelible mark not only on the stage but within his family. The iconic choreographer, who enchanted audiences as a jury member on "Dancing with the Stars, " passed away on June 13, 2021, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.

A Family of Talent and Passion

Chapkis was a family man, having fathered two children, each following in his illustrious footsteps. Liliya Chapkis, his daughter, is an embodiment of her father's passion. Now residing in Italy, she runs her own ballet school, sharing her father's love for dance with a new generation.

"My father taught me that dance is not just a career, but a way of life, " Liliya once remarked.

Liliya’s dedication has also been passed down to her daughters. The elder, Anna, thrives in the vibrant worlds of cinema and modeling in Spain. Meanwhile, Victoria, the younger, pursues her dance education abroad, having initially studied in Kyiv.

The American Dream

On the other side of the Atlantic, Greg Chapkis continues the family tradition in San Francisco. He oversees a flourishing dance school and enjoys a family life with his wife, Amber, and their two sons, Nicolas and Max. Greg’s journey reflects his father's ethos of perseverance and passion.

"Dance connects us to our roots and propels us forward, " Greg shares, echoing his father's teachings.

A Farewell with Love

When Grigoriy Chapkis passed, his family, despite being scattered across the globe, reunited in Ukraine to bid farewell. Their presence was a testament to the profound impact he had on their lives.
