The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is heating up, and Sweden's KAJ is turning up the temperature with their whimsical entry, "Bara bada bastu." Currently leading the bookmaker odds with a 19% chance of victory, this song humorously celebrates the Finnish sauna experience.

A Bold Move by Sweden

Sweden's choice of KAJ and their Swedish-language song marks a significant departure from past victories that heavily relied on English pop anthems. Not since 1998 has a Swedish-language song represented the nation at Eurovision. This bold move is not only a risk in terms of language but also in tone, as the song ventures into comedic territory.

Måns Zelmerlöw's Emotional Response

The selection of KAJ had its share of drama, especially for Måns Zelmerlöw, Sweden's Eurovision hero from 2015. Måns returned to the national selection with high hopes, armed with a pop masterpiece "Revolution." However, the jury and public votes favored KAJ's humor over his polished pop sound.

"I was shocked that the jury gave KAJ such high scores. It might seem wrong, but we'll see in May if the international panel made the right choice, " commented Måns Zelmerlöw after the national finals.

Left in tears, Måns has hinted that his Melodifestivalen days might be over.

The Competition Heats Up

While Sweden leads, Austria's JJ is a close contender with "Wasted Love, " a heartfelt ballad, holding a 16% chance of clinching the crystal microphone. Israel, France, and the Netherlands follow, each bringing their unique flair to the competition.

Ukraine, once languishing at the 19th spot, has impressively climbed to 9th, showcasing the unpredictable and dynamic nature of the Eurovision odds.

What Lies Ahead?

With two months until Eurovision 2025, the race is far from over. Betting odds fluctuate daily, promising more twists and turns. The question remains: will KAJ's sauna serenade steamroll the competition, or will the more traditional ballads rise to the occasion?
