Orest's life came to a sudden stop on February 12 in Antwerp, Belgium, at the age of 56. The unfortunate news was shared by historian Mykhailo Masliy on social media, leaving a nation in grief.

Born on Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, Orest pursued a career in cardiology after graduating from the Ternopil Medical Institute. However, after the loss of his brother, he redirected his passion towards cultural preservation and awareness. As the executive director of the Vasyl Slipak Foundation, Orest played a pivotal role in keeping his brother's memory alive through various charitable and cultural projects.

A Family's Heartbreaking Journey
