This quickly attracted the attention of law enforcement officers, who later discovered a connection between Sancho and the victim.

At first, the court sentenced Daniel to death. However, thanks to his cooperation with the investigation, the sentence was changed to life imprisonment. The decision came after Sancho confessed to dismembering the body and helping the investigation.

Sancho told police that his motive was that Arrieta had threatened to disgrace him and his family by revealing their alleged sexual relationship. At the same time, Sancho denied having a sexual relationship with the victim. He put forward the version that Arrieta tried to rape him, and this is what led to the conflict.

"I am sorry that a life was lost and that the parents lost their son. I am sorry that the family could not give him a proper burial. I am sorry for what I did after his death, " said Daniel Sancho at the beginning of the trial.
