Ivan Varshavskyi, a builder from Odesa, who at one time actively worked on the creation of the Baikal-Amur highway, recently found himself at the center of a scandal. During the television program "History of BAM - preservation of Slavic identity" he allowed himself humiliating remarks against Ukrainians, calling them "scumbags".

Singer Taisia ​​Povaly, who was also present at the show, brazenly supported Varshavsky, laughing at his insulting remark. This caused outrage among Ukrainian viewers, because Povaliy added a comment in Ukrainian:

Despite the picture, which tried to depict the friendship of peoples, this event became another example of manipulation and hypocrisy on the part of the collaborators.
