Exciting "Dovbush" on the screens: a TV premiere that impresses
On August 24 at 8: 00 p.m., the ICTV2 TV channel will congratulate viewers on the Independence Day of Ukraine with the premiere of the historical film "Dovbush". This film, directed by Oles Sanin, is one of the most ambitious and large-scale in the Ukrainian film industry.
The legend of Oleksa Dovbush comes to life
"Dovbush" is based on the legend of Oleksa Dovbush, the leader of the Galician rebels. More than 117 specialists worked on the creation of this historical drama. Filming took place in more than 50 different locations, including the picturesque Carpathians, Svirz Castle and Drohobytsk Saltworks.
"We tried to convey as accurately as possible the atmosphere of the Hutsul Region of the 18th century, " said Oles Sanin.
The impact of the pandemic and war on filming
The shooting of the film began back in 2018, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the beginning of the war, the process had to be stopped several times. The first location shooting was postponed from 2020 to 2022, but the full-scale invasion of Russia delayed the premiere.
Record budget and impressive costumes
The total budget of "Dovbush" amounted to a record 120 million hryvnias. For the authenticity of the costumes, 117 craftsmen created more than a thousand images for eight months. The most expensive were the dresses of Marichka and Mrs. Yablunovska, weighing up to 10 kilograms.
"We used only natural materials and dyes to recreate the authenticity of that era, " says costume designer Gala Otenko.
The actors studied the Hutsul dialect
To reproduce the atmosphere as accurately as possible, the actors studied the Hutsul dialect. Special attention was paid to the authentic lines and speech of the heroes. In addition, knives, swords and pistols were specially made so that the actors could learn to use these items skillfully.
Summary and meaning of the film
The TV premiere of "Dovbush" on ICTV2 will be a significant event for all connoisseurs of Ukrainian cinema. It will not only entertain, but also remind of important pages of our history, unite the nation and give a new impetus to the development of domestic cinema.
