On Sunday, September 22, Ukraine selected its representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which will be held on November 16 in the Spanish capital, Madrid. Artem Kotenko with the song "Home" won the National Selection, receiving 5 points from the jury and 6 points from the audience, making a total of 11 points.

How the winner was chosen

The grand finalist was determined by both the audience and the jury, which included singer ROXOLANA, TVORCHI sound producer Andrii Hutsuliak and Vitaly Drozdov. In the end, Kotenko and Zlata Ivaniv had the same number of points - 11 each. However, the audience's votes were decisive: Artem received more audience votes than his competitor.

Preparation for the final

The competition was held in the format of a televised concert, similar to the classical Eurovision Song Contest. Before the finals, 15 participating children went through a summer "star school" where they improved their vocal, acting and choreography skills. Only the best 6 made it to the finals, who continued their training under the guidance of singer Svitlana Tarabarova and producer Yevhen Triplov.

Emotions and expectations

"It is an incredible honor to represent Ukraine at such a prestigious competition. I am grateful to everyone who supported me along the way, " said Artem Kotenko after the announcement of the results.

The competition between the finalists was intense: Zlata Ivaniv with the song "Necklace" by Svitlana Tarabarova brought tears to her mentor and goosebumps to the judges. However, according to the rules of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the votes of the audience were decisive.

Madrid is getting ready for the show

This year's competition in Madrid promises to be a bright celebration of music and talent. According to official information, the show will be decorated with watercolor flowers in a purple-orange theme, and its slogan "Let's bloom" will symbolize the blossoming of children's talents.
