Ukrainian Fashion Week: War veterans on the catwalk - an example of steadfastness and style
Ukrainian Fashion Week returned to Kyiv after a long break due to a full-scale war that lasted 2.5 years. However, the organizing team decided not to limit itself to fashion shows, but also to draw attention to important social issues.
War veterans on the catwalk: Fortitude and style
War veterans who underwent prosthetics were invited to this year's fashion show. They not only became models, but also a symbol of the indomitability of the Ukrainian people. The show was opened by five members of the military prosthetics fund Revived Soldiers Ukraine: Artem Moroz, Maksym Yermokhin, Mykola Levkun, Dmytro Tereshchenko and Oleksandr Kungurov.
"Exquisite clothes in the style of Ukrainian boho combined traditions with a modern vision of fashion and, at the same time, became an excellent example of the fact that fashion can be a tool for dialogue with society, " the foundation noted.
Andreas Moskin: Traditions and modernity
This year, the Andreas Moskin brand presented the SS25 collection, inspired by the aesthetics of Ukrainian poetic cinema of the 1960s and 70s. Designers Andriy Moskin and Andreas Bilous turned to the themes of nostalgia and the underappreciated, creating a collection reminiscent of the film "The White Bird with a Black Mark".
Audience reaction: Emotions and support
The show began with the audience seeing a man with prosthetic legs sitting on a chair in the middle of the podium. Later he got up and walked along the audience. All images on veterans were in calm nude tones. Spectators' comments did not take long:
"Cool!"
"They are still impressive... Glory to Ukraine"
"Very powerful and cool"
Conclusions: Fashion as a tool of dialogue
This display not only demonstrated the strength of the veterans' spirit, but also emphasized the importance of supporting and recognizing our Heroes. Ukrainian Fashion Week managed to take an important step in the direction of social responsibility, showing that fashion can be more than just beautiful clothes. She is able to unite and inspire.
