After a highly competitive application process, Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG has announced the finalists for Eurovision 2025: Geneva and Basel. This decision came as a surprise, because Zurich, which was considered the favorite, did not make the list, as well as Bern.

Geneva: cultural and business center

Geneva, which has always been among the favorites, offered to hold the competition in the Palexpo International Exhibition and Conference Center, which can accommodate up to 15, 000 spectators. The city has an airport with numerous international flights and a well-developed transport system. The authorities of Geneva have already promised to allocate about 30 million Swiss francs for the organization of the competition.

Geneva is not only a business center, but also a city with a rich cultural heritage, which makes it an ideal place to host such a large-scale event.

Basel: the cultural capital of Switzerland

Basel, located along the border with France and Germany, offers the St. Jacobs Halle stadium with a capacity of about 12 thousand spectators. The city also has an international airport EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg, which provides convenient access for international visitors. Basel is known for its 40 museums and rich history, making it a great candidate to host Eurovision 2025.

Basel is the true cultural capital of Switzerland, which can offer guests not only a musical show, but also a rich cultural experience.

Who will win?

The final decision on the host city will be announced at the end of August 2024. Both cities have their advantages, but only time will tell which of them will be the winner in the fight to host Eurovision 2025. Until now, fans can only guess which city will become the new music capital of Europe.
