At the beginning of October, Zurich turned into a meeting place for the leading film producers of Europe, who gathered to discuss why Hollywood stars are increasingly choosing European locations for shooting new films.

European appeal: what's behind the scenes?

Gathered as part of the Zurich Film Festival, such mastodons of the industry as Vincent Maraval and Elizabeth d'Arvier shared their thoughts on the growing popularity of Europe among Hollywood directors. Maraval noted that in conditions where American films are becoming more "safe", the European platform provides an opportunity for creative experimentation.

"Europe offers actors the opportunity to reveal their potential without restrictions, " Maraval noted.

Cost, locations and freedom: key success factors

The rising cost of film production in the US is forcing filmmakers to look for new solutions. Europe not only offers cultural diversity and numerous locations for filming, but also flexible conditions that make it attractive for creative projects. Christian Vesper of Fremantle believes that this approach opens up new horizons for transatlantic cooperation.

"We see a huge potential in European film production, which can become the basis for new successful projects, " Vesper says.

Will Europe become the new Hollywood?

In conclusion, experts point out that while European films may be less commercial, they often embody creative ideas and innovative approaches that are rarely seen in Hollywood. Carl Sperry of Zurich Avenue emphasizes that such cooperation not only enriches the European film industry, but also offers Hollywood stars new challenges and opportunities.
