Popular Ukrainian rock musician and band leader O'Torvald Zhenya Halych shared unexpected details about his life. He said that for some time he voluntarily took antidepressants to overcome depression.

Once severe depression required unpopular decisions from Halych

Zhenya Halych admitted that he once experienced severe depression and did not want to seek help. However, he realized that he needed not only psychotherapy, but also the help of a psychiatrist. After several sessions, the doctor suggested that he start taking antidepressants.

"I came to the first session skeptical, realizing that psychotherapy is not a science. And in the first session I cried, it was very bad. And she says: 'This is not psychotherapy, this is psychiatry, I would advise you to see a psychiatrist.' I passed the tests, I found my doctor. She says: 'You are a very cool person, but we will be without drugs for a long time. Do you want to try antidepressants?' I say: 'Never, '" Zhenya Halych admits.

Why did Halych decide to take antidepressants?

However, later the situation changed. Zhenya himself came to the doctor and asked to prescribe him drugs when he felt on the edge. The first two weeks of taking antidepressants were very difficult, but gradually the condition improved.

"For the first two weeks I was very sick because I was a bigger vegetable than in the first days when the depression started. In the morning I was sore, and in the evening it was better. And then I looked at myself in the mirror and thought: 'What if nice to wear today?' It's important that when you take antidepressants, you can't drink at all, I wanted to, but I poured it all down the sink, " adds Zhenya Halych.

Consequences of the war and the fight against drugs and alcohol

In the spring, Zhenya Halych also admitted that after he visited the front line, he began to have serious mental problems. He turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, but it only made things worse.

"I have problems of a psychological nature after the war. I brought myself to the point where I did not remember several days of my life due to the fact that I used an enormous amount of alcohol and drugs. And this only made it worse, and it seemed to me that I it helps, " Zhenya Halych admitted.

This open and honest story of a famous musician is an important reminder of the need to reach out for help and support yourself during difficult times.
