Life after losses: how Taras Chubai continues to fight for Ukraine
Leader of the Lament of Jeremiah band Taras Chubai tirelessly works for the good of Ukraine even in the most difficult moments of his life. After the looting of his house in Gostomel, he rents an apartment and actively engages in volunteer activities.
Escape under fire
When the full-scale invasion began, Taras Chubai and his wife were far from home. It was on February 24 that they dared to return to save the children and parents.
"We barely managed to get back. On the morning of February 25, we had to drive into what were actually Russian positions in order to pick up children and parents and at least save something. Then we just ran away during the battle, " Chubai recalls.
From a looted house to new heights
The musician's house in Gostomel is now uninhabitable: the occupants ransacked the house and stole musical equipment from the studio. However, this did not stop Taras. He continues to create and help the military.
Revival of creativity
With the beginning of the war, Taras Chubai's songs, such as "Vona" and "Tape after tape", became even more popular. They are played more often on the radio, and are sung on the front lines and in the rear. On his Facebook page, the artist showed a video from a performance in Lviv, where he mostly performs now.
Army support
Taras Chubai actively helps the military, for which he was awarded a medal. His contribution is not only musical, but also material, as recognized by the defenders themselves.
"The war greatly affected my life, but it did not shake my faith in the victory of Ukraine, " Chubai notes.
Taras Chubai is a vivid example of how a person can remain true to his principles and continue to fight, even in the darkest times. Not only does he continue to create, but he also inspires others with his unwavering faith and support for a country that so desperately needs heroes.
