Usher's scandalous diet: Is fasting and celery juice really keeping him in shape?
The famous pop musician Usher is again on everyone's lips. After his fantastic performance at the Super Bowl, the singer was showered with compliments for his great physique. However, his diet is causing considerable concern among nutritionists.
Usher and his extreme methods
The 45-year-old singer is preparing for a world tour, during which he will give 80 concerts in six countries. To be in top shape, Usher follows a strict fasting regime. Every week he spends 24 hours drinking only water.
"Usually I try to start around 11: 00 p.m. the day before, and then I only drink water all day on Wednesday, " the singer said.
Rejection of coffee and celery juice
Usher also ditched his morning cup of coffee in favor of celery juice and lemon water. He believes these drinks help him activate his organs and keep him energized throughout the day.
"If you want to drink celery juice, that's fine. It's going to be very hydrating, but I don't think it's necessarily going to beat other vegetables, " comments Dr. Carolyn Williams.
Nutritionists warn about the risks
Experts say that such habits can be harmful. Dr. Carolyn Williams, a nutritionist, emphasizes the risks of malnutrition and electrolyte loss during Usher's intense workouts.
"Fasting all day on nothing but water and still trying to stick to that training schedule is not something that's generally recommended, " notes Dr. Williams.
Consequences for health
Not getting enough electrolytes can lead to muscle cramps, diarrhea, constipation, and even an irregular heart rhythm. While some studies support intermittent fasting for weight loss, others point to an increased risk of heart disease and cancer.
In summary, Usher's methods raise many questions and doubts. Despite his great physical shape, his approach to diet and training seems too extreme. Whether he will be able to withstand such a regime without harm to his health, time will tell.
