Young people love the noisy nightlife of Kiev. In the spring-summer time, the desire to hang out longer in the open air after a hot long day can be realized by looking at the "green", aka the Green Theater. Since 2011, under the open sky, the motley Kiev youth has been tearing away and resting here all night long. The opening of the season often takes place somewhere in April-May, and this frenzy of musical and driving nightlife lasts until September, before the onset of cold weather.

And what happened before? You ask! And before that it was a military strategic facility. True, he did not have to fulfill the function of protecting the road, bridge and fortress that was assigned to him by designing and constructing.
In the middle of the 19th century, two fortress walls were erected: the upper and lower, to protect the Pechersk fortress. Inside these walls were loopholes and galleries. With these retaining walls it was necessary to cover the water pump, the Nikolaev chain bridge and the Podolsk embankment fortification from the enemy. Through the tunnel, which was located between the two walls from the water pump, water was supplied, through the cast-iron pipes to the Arsenal plant, this tunnel reached the defense walls, it served as a transition from the workshops of the plant to the water pump. By the way, today the tunnel is preserved and you can even see the preserved water supply of the plant.
In 1949, they decided to build an amphitheater near the upper wall for 4 thousand seats, so it was decided to build an open-air cinema. Carousels were opened near him and the park was put in order so that the people of Kiev could have a good time. Since Kiev was rebuilt at an accelerated pace after the war, they soon built the Hydropark, then the October Palace. This became the reason for the oblivion of the Green Theater, as interest switched to new equipped places for the entertainment of citizens.
In the 1980s there was an attempt to restore Zelenka. There, the drainage wells were tidied up, the retaining walls were made of granite, the upper wall was strengthened, and two-tier balconies with 900 loggias were built. Concerts took place there for some time, but it was less and less used for the public and it fell into decay.
Nowadays, this place is shrouded in secrets and various legends, it keeps within its walls the history of ancient Kiev, the history of people, their lives, their secrets, hopes, experiences, which we will never know. These walls saw pain and suffering, death, the birth of a new life, joy and children's laughter... And nowadays this place is a witness and participant in unbridled drive, fun, new long-awaited impressions, partings and goodbyes, but only to meet again! Every morning the sun's rays run through all corners of the Green Theater to wake it up for new adventures, and every evening the sunset promises that tomorrow will surely come and will be more fun, brighter, more fiery than ever.
